Josh McErlean's burgeoning rally career will take another significant step forward in 2025 after he secured a spot on the M-Sport Ford World Rally Championship (WRC) team.
Along with fellow Irishman and co-driver Eoin Tracey, the Derry man will drive a Ford Puma Rally1 after successful seasons across both the WRC2 and ERC Championships.
Supported by the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy, the 25-year-old will now compete against the elite, embarking on a full campaign with the British-based factory team. They will compete across the full season, taking on 14 rallies across four continents and three different surfaces.
McErlean made the step up to WRC2 in 2022 and secured three top-five finishes in the junior category. The last two seasons have allowed him to progress up through the WRC2 and ERC ranks.
"Joining M-Sport Ford next year to drive the Puma Rally1 in the World Rally Championship is truly a dream come true," said McErlean.
"I’ve always aspired to compete at the highest level of motorsport, and now that opportunity is becoming a reality. I’m incredibly excited to be working with such a professional and dedicated team, and Eoin and I are ready to give it everything.
"This is a massive step in my career, and I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved - Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy, John Coyne, supporters, family, and the team - for making this possible. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel."
