New chairperson John Wall takes controlling stake in Kerry FC

Dec 20,2024

First Division side Kerry FC have announced US-based businessman John Wall as their new chairperson and co-owner.

Wall, a son of former Mayor of Tralee Johnnie Wall and chief financial officer of NASDAQ-listed Cadence Design Systems, has taken a controlling stake in the club, alongside Steven Conway, who partnered with Brian Ainscough when the club entered the League of Ireland for 2023.

Ainscough subsequently left to take over Dundalk in December last year but agreed to a takeover with a group of local investors in September.

Kerry finished bottom of the 10-team First Division this season, two points behind Longford Town.

"John's passion for sport, loyalty to his roots, and leadership experience make him the perfect partner for Kerry FC," said a club statement.

"His vision and values align seamlessly with our club's long-term ambitions, and we are excited to embark on this next chapter together, as we look forward to building on the collective efforts of every person who has contributed to making Kerry FC what it is today."

Billy Dennehy, who was Kerry FC's first manager, and director of football last year, has been appointed CEO.

"Billy's deep connection to Kerry and his steadfast commitment to our community resonate perfectly with the values that define Kerry FC," said the club.
