Attendances across the League of Ireland in 2024 broke the million mark for the first time ever.
A total of 1,001,630 fans went to games in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division, First Division, SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division, men's and women's FAI Cups, the All-Island Cup and European matches involving LOI clubs.
It's another good news story for a league which has enjoyed a surge in popularity over the last few years.
Last week Bohemians were allocated almost €25m under the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF) grant scheme, with Sligo Rovers' plans to redevelop the Showgrounds also given a major boost as they received €16.4m towards the project.
Wexford FC were given €2m to help their move from Ferrycarrig Park to a new ground closer to the town.
Earlier this month a peak audience of 402,000 watched Shelbourne clinch the men's league title with victory at Derry City, while on Sunday 38,723 attended the Sports Direct FAI Cup final between the Candystripes and Drogheda United, who won 2-0.
That was the largest ever attendance at the showpiece decider between two non-Dublin clubs.
