Con O'Callaghan will be free to line out for Cuala in Sunday's Leinster Club SFC quarter-final clash with Naas after his red card from their Dublin county final win over Kilmacud Crokes was rescinded last night.
O'Callaghan received his marching orders after an off-the-ball collision with Kilmacud goalkeeper Devon Burns moments before Crokes drew the game level through a spectacular goal from substitute Luke Ward. Cuala would go on to nick the win in injury time and secure their first ever Dublin SFC crown.
O'Callaghan, a three-time All Star with Dublin and a six-time All-Ireland winner, was due to serve a one-game ban.
However, Cuala were able to produce video evidence to challenge the decision at a Dublin County Board meeting on Tuesday evening and it is believed their argument was strong enough to sway the decision in their favour.
Naas were on the other end of a similar red card decision in their own county final when, trailing Celbridge by one point in the Kildare decider, Celbridge substutite - and former Lilywhites senior player - Paddy Brophy was sent off barely 60 seconds after his introduction.
Naas popped over the final two scores of the game to win a scrappy contest 1-07 to 1-06 for their fourth county title in succession.
The Kildare side have lost two of the last three Leinster Club SFC finals to Kilmacud Crokes.
