Leinster have received "good news" on Ciarán Frawley's ankle injury and the Ireland out-half has not been ruled out of Saturday’s BKT URC game against Lions.
The 26-year-old was taken off after 16 minutes of their win over Connacht at the weekend after rolling his ankle in the build-up to the team’s second try.
With Andy Farrell set to name his squad for the autumn internationals on Wednesday, the news comes as a boost for the Ireland boss.
"We originally thought it might be bad but there was some good news today.
"Because he’s playing at the line, it was just a freakish incident. Frawls, we know that he’s quite keen to hit the line, but it doesn’t mean that he’s a bigger injury risk, it shouldn’t be."
The province said in a statement that Frawley "rolled his ankle in the first half in Galway and while not serious, will be further assessed as the week progresses before a final decision is made on his availability."
Lock Joe McCarthy (hamstring), wing Jordan Larmour (hamstring) and Ryan Baird (head injury) are all to be assessed during the week.
Lee Barron (ankle) is out for this weekend, while there were no further updates on Dan Sheehan, Paddy McCarthy, Jimmy O’Brien, Rob Russell, Jack Conan, Rónan Kelleher and Tommy O’Brien.
