Munster's injury problems are mounting, with both Peter O’Mahony and Oli Jager ruled out of this Saturday’s BKT United Rugby Championship interpro against Leinster at Croke Park.

Both players departed Saturday’s 23-0 win against the Ospreys in Cork with first half injuries, with Jager hurting his neck during the early stages of the game, and O’Mahony also departing in the first half with a hamstring issue.

The province are yet to determine the extent of the injuries, but have already ruled both players out of the derby at GAA HQ.

Additionally, full-back Mike Haley is a doubt for this weekend, with the team’s medical department monitoring the leg contusion he picked up late in Saturday’s win.

Wing Thaakir Abrahams has already been ruled out due to the thing injury suffered in the defeat away to Zebre Parma, while the province say Shane Daly is unlikely to be cleared to return from an elbow injury on time.

In better news for head coach Graham Rowntree, versatile back Sean O’Brien has rejoined the squad after his involvement with Emerging Ireland, and is available for selection this weekend, while Tom Ahern and Alex Nankivell are both back in training, with their availability for the meeting with Leinster to be determined later in the week.

Nankivell has missed the last two games due to a shoulder injury, while lock/flanker Ahern has been sidelined since the end of the regular season last summer with an ankle issue.

Academy flanker Ruadhán Quinn is also being monitored as this week progresses as he continues the return to play protocols for a concussion suffered against Zebre, while Billy Burns has an outside chance of being available this week as he steps up his recovery from a shoulder problem.

Meanwhile, both Patrick Campbell and Josh Wycherley could be set for a period on the sidelines.

Full-back Campbell’s luckless run with injury continues as he is set for shoulder surgery, while loosehead Wycherley will see a specialist this week about a neck injury.
