Irish international Savannah McCarthy injured in road crash

Republic of Ireland international and Shamrock Rovers footballer Savannah McCarthy has been treated in hospital after she was injured in a road crash.

The two-vehicle collision happened on the N69 at Glin, Co Limerick, shortly before 8pm on Sunday evening.

She was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where she was treated for her injuries.

Two other men were injured in the crash. A man in his 40s was also taken to UHL; a man in his 50s was treated at University Hospital Kerry.

Gardaí have not revealed the identities of the three people involved in the collision, but they described their injuries as non life-threatening.

Gardaí said emergency services attended the scene of the crash and they are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time, particularly those with dash-cam, phone or other footage, to contact them at Newcastle West Garda Station.

Savannah McCarthy joined Shamrock Rovers' Women's National League side from Galway United in January of last year.
