Béibhinn Parsons is set to be a doubt for Guinness Women's Six Nations next year, with the Ireland international suffering a second broken leg in the space of just over four months.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury while playing for Ireland’s Sevens team against France in the World SVNS Series leg in Cape Town on Saturday.
Parsons had only recently returned from a broken fibula, which she suffered during Ireland’s quarter-final to Australia at the Olympic Games in mid-August, an injury which saw her miss Ireland’s WXV campaign in Canada.
The winger made her comeback in last week’s opening leg of the SVNS series in Dubai, scoring two tries over the weekend before Ireland were defeated by New Zealand in the quarters.
"Breaking my leg for the second time so soon after returning has been heartbreaking," Parsons said in a post on Instagram.

"Knowing exactly what’s ahead of me is both a blessing and a curse but one thing I’ve learned from before is that surrounding yourself with good people is the best way through so that’s what I’ll do."
While the Ballinasloe native had returned to Sevens this month, she had been expected to play for both the Sevens and the XV’s team in 2025 ahead of the World Cup in England.
With just over eight months to go until Ireland’s opening World Cup game against Japan on 23 August, Parsons does still have time on her side to get back to full fitness, although it does leave her participation in the Six Nations in doubt, with Scott Bemand’s side taking on France in Belfast in their opening game on 22 March.
