Justin Thomas will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas after shooting a six-under-par 66 on Saturday.
Thomas made six birdies in a flawless third round to reach 17 under for the tournament and rein in overnight leader and defending champion Scottie Scheffler, whose 69 left him on 16 under.
World number 25 Thomas, who trailed Scheffler by two strokes at the end of the second round, told the PGA's official website: "I’m driving it great. I’ve had a lot of confidence with it.
"I feel like I’ve been able to put myself in some pretty good spots going into the green. I’m still not taking advantage of some of them as much as I would like, but that’s golf and we’re always going to say that."
South Korea’s Tom Kim climbed up seven places on the leaderboard and sits two shots behind Thomas after firing a superb 62, which included 12 birdies and a double bogey.
Kim dropped two shots on the 17th as he was bidding to shoot a course record. Rickie Fowler shot 61 in the final round when he won at Albany in 2017.
Scotland’s Donald MacIntyre is in seventh place on nine under after making five birdies and two bogeys for a third-round 68 and England’s Aaron Rai is tied in 14th place on two under after carding a 72.
