Three-time former world champion Israel Vazquez has died at the age of 46.
It was announced in November that Vazquez, who held IBF, WBC and The Ring super bantamweight world titles during his 49-fight career, had been diagnosed with cancer.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman wrote on X: "Thank you Israel for the so many great memories that you have given us through your actions inside the ring but most importantly outside of it.
"You are now eternal, rest in peace, everything will be all right."
Vazquez had the nickname 'Magnifico' and was best known for his epic battles with fellow Mexican Rafael Marquez.
The two fighters met four times between 2007 and 2010 and won two apiece.
Vazquez retired after losing his final fight with Marquez to finish with a record of 44 wins and five defeats.
