Highly rated Meath Under-20s Gaelic footballer Eamonn Armstrong has signed with Aussie Rules club St Kilda for the 2025 season.
Armstrong, still only 17 years old, was a key figure in the Royal County's march to the Leinster title last April. It was the county's first provincial crown at the grade since 2001.
The gifted athlete has also represented the Republic of Ireland soccer team at underage level.
He joins St Kilda as a Category B Rookie and will head Down Under after doing his Leaving Cert.
"I couldn't be more excited to embrace this opportunity and all of the experiences it will bring," said Armstrong.
"The club has been terrific in really making my family and I feel comfortable with this process. I know I have a lot to learn, but I can’t wait to get stuck in and really give it my all."
Armstrong becomes the second Category B Irishman on the St Kilda roster, following in the footsteps of Corkman Liam O'Connell, who has just concluded his first year there.
"We're very pleased to welcome Eamonn and his family to the club," said David Misson, St Kilda executive general manager.
"We're really supportive of Eamonn’s decision to finish school and join us in a few months.
"We clearly see great potential in him and wanted to make sure he had the comfort of knowing he’d secured a place on our list in the meantime to allow him to concentrate on his studies.
"We look forward to making Eamonn welcome at RSEA Park next year."
