Nov 18,2024

Keelan Kilrehill and Ann-Marie McGlynn claimed maiden victories at the 123.ie national cross-country championships held at Castle Irvine Estate, Co. Fermanagh this afternoon.

Kilrehill was a convincing winner of the men's race pulling ahead of Nick Griggs with around 3,000m to go.

When the Moy Valley AC man made his decisive move there was no way back for the chasers and he ultimately took victory by almost half a minute.

Niall Murphy took silver with Corma Dalton third across the line.

Efrem Gidey and Sean Tobin completed the top five.

The women’s race saw Ann-Marie McGlynn continue her strong recent form to break clear shortly after the half-way point.

The Offaly native, who won the national marathon title only three weeks ago, was unstoppable and had over 10 seconds to spare as she crossed the line, wiping tears from her eyes and raising her arms aloft into the air in celebration.

Niamh Allen claimed silver ahead of the fast-finishing Daniell Donegan who took bronze. Fioan Everard fended off a late surge from Mary Mulhare to cross the line fourth.

Niall Murphy and Emma McEvoy won U23 races respectively, with Jonas Stafford taking victory in the men’s U20 race.

Lucy Foster was a runaway winner of the women’s U20 title.
