WHY SERRANO NOW?
Katie Taylor beat Amanda Serrano in a historic clash at Madison Square Garden in April 2022. The Bray fighter won by split decision, coming back from the brink of defeat. It was the highest profile women's fight ever, selling out the main arena at the famous New York venue and giving Taylor her best night as a professional.
The rematch always seemed likely, but was delayed as Taylor lost to Chantelle Cameron.
A year ago Taylor became two-weight world champion by gaining revenge against Cameron.
The trilogy could not be agreed so Taylor's camp looked elsewhere.
Serrano is under Jake Paul's MVP Promotions and he sought the bout with Taylor to fill the undercard of his clash with Tyson.
Following negotiations with Taylor's team and promoter Matchroom Boxing, a deal was reached to allow Taylor to fight under the MVP promotion.
The bout will be seen as very much a 50-50 fight and will give Katie another stern test.
One concern is she has been out of the ring for 12 months.
Now 38, this is another chance to add a chapter to a remarkable career.
SERRANO ALSO AMONG THE GREATS
While Serrano lost the original fight, she remains one of the hardest opponents for Taylor.
With 50 fights so far, she has just two defeats including the 2022 clash. It remains her only loss in over a decade.
She has won five fights since the Taylor clash, including over Heather Hardy and Danila Ramos as unified featherweight world champion.
That is one of seven weights she has won a world title at.
With 15 years as a professional, the 36-year-old is determind to avenge the loss.
HOW ARE THEY FEELING
Respect is the word among two fighters who usually do their talking in the ring.
There won't be explosives in the build-up, and you can expect little trash talk too.
However there will be the Jake Paul hype train behind this bout so media coverage will be vast.
Taylor feels she will be superior once again: "The result is going to be the same. I'm very, very confident.
"We're both stepping into the ring very confident I'm sure. I believe I'm just a better fighter and the best of me always beats the best of Amanda.
"I'm just so glad that I made history with Amanda because I feel like nobody has done what she's done in women's boxing.
"A seven-weight world champion, that's just unprecedented. I don't think any other female fighter will accomplish what she's accomplished."
WHO WILL COME OUT ON TOP?
That is anyone's guess for now. Taylor will have more support based on the original win in 2022.
It took a spectacular performance for the 2012 London gold medallist to beat Chantelle Cameron in their second clash.
That is likely to be needed again and a close fight is certain.
